I came to an agreed on price for some wheels and tires with someone three days ago, said lets meet by you tell me when and where works... And now no response.
Am I wrong to bail? It is a 2+ hour round trip and I can’t just disappear on the family at a moment’s notice, hence my request for details.

Yeah I’d bail if they don’t get back to you.

You can and should bail. The other party probably already has. CL transactions are fleeting. After first contact if I can’t turn something around within 2 days, I presume that contact is a dead end.

Yup, I always check back the day before the agreed upon time and then a couple hours before day of. No response and your number gets blocked.

I had a guy when i was buying parts for things respond a week later with an address and an apology. I responded with an email saying I had gone a different route and he proceeded to rip me apart in another email. i never responded because I don’t need to justify myself to people when they are selling something to me. It’s my money.
CL is weird. Some people take it way too seriously and others too lightly. It’s a garage sale online. That’s it.
In this case, bail and keep looking, if he gets back to you before you secure what you need, gravy; if not, tough for him.
You’re fully justified in saying “too late.”

2 points on this.
1 bail
2 never drive 2+ hours to sell something, in my opinion the driving responsibility is on the buyer - not the seller. I mean, it was his choice to look up an ad that was that far away. Even if you’re meeting him in the middle some where, way too much. If I’m selling you can come to the public strip mall in my town or I’ll wait for another buyer.

Bail. I agreed to meet a buyer the next day once. I had dealt with him a couple of times, so I felt comfortable doing that. I texted him when I got to the meeting place, and he responded with, “OMG, I forgot! I’ll come pick it up at your place tonight.”
I simply texted back, “Fuck”
I sold it to somebody else for more money the next week.

Actually I’m the buyer. I am perfectly willing to travel but not on a moment’s notice.

Thanks everyone. I haven’t had great experiences as a seller on CL. Someone will send their agent, will I ship it, what’s my PayPal... Lots of scammy stuff.
This time as a buyer I see how it is like you all say, an online flea market.
